I need to stop watching American films and film my trips to the rental outlet with British films. Watched a stellar film this evening. Directed by the same fellow who directed The Queen . I realize that Harvey W. had to be the one to make this film available on DVD to the North American market but The Deal is worth every second invested.
Is it my love of politics that made me feel fully engaged with the developments throughout the movie? Do I just have that British sensibility for things because of my ancestors or because I was so well colonized as a resident of Canada?
I hear there is a third film in the works by the writer of both films. Hooray.
A second hooray.....it is raining a good steady heavy rain. No more humidex. No scant mizzle. Real Rain people. A true cause for celebration.
I finished The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I am still processing the book. It is in a style I find a original and literary.
Now off to bed to read Hope's Darkest England . I started the book last night but haven't really gotten to the meat of it yet. A poke at the colonizer. Right up my alley.

SWEETIE said it runs from both ends of the spectrum. It being the romantic things I have done for him.
At the one end - I took him on a cruise for his 40th birthday.
At the other end = The notes/cards/letters that I packed in his suitcase when he went to piping camp last month. One for every night before bed.
Some are super over the top and some are touchingly simple.

If you get the Globe and Mail....
Did your Saturday August 16th 2008 edition come with a Books section? Was their a nation wide glitch? Or was my paper the only one a little light?

I was hoping to have some photographs for this entry.
So I will simply share. We had a our first ever visit from a red breasted nut-hatch late this afternoon. I couldn't get a picture. Every time I appeared with the camera it went into hiding.
Prior to the nuthatch delight we were sitting outside on the porch with ODCBC between us. And we were visited by a stellar jay with such a goofy personality. And it had no problem being ever so near us and the furhead. Hilarious. And beautiful.
We had visits from a dozen at time stellar jays when we first moved in 2006. This one this afternoon was the first one back in our yard since.
Hope to get some pictures soon.

| Jazz in the Garden 2008 |

I have to say that flat out the line up for this performance was no where near the bill for this same event in 2007. It was so dull in fact we left early.
I got so bored I began photographing things like this that caught my distracted eye.

Last year there were musicians with stage presence even in the jazz camp group. I do confess that it was extremely hot (bloody humidex) outside to sit in the sun for 4 plus hours so that likely played a part.
My review such as it is.
I think tonight I may finish The History of Love . Apparently it is now on aurillia's list of to read.
